Mind your own Wellness: turning thoughts into reality, by Alex Ong-Book Review

The author begins by describing the Americans poor health. A complete 105 MM people have elevated cholesterol. My own experience, replace yoghurt, salads and water for junk food, soda and candy will go far in losing the first 25 pounds overweight. After exercise, 8 hours of nightly sleep, don't eat after 8 pm and de-stressing will lose the rest.

A beauty of the project is that healthy food is quoted. For example, broccoli, kale, celery, courgette, soya beans and dried figs good sources of calcium. Animal protein increases the saturated fat. Transfats raised by consume deep fried food, peanut butter, potato chips and frozen foods. Sugar will turn to FAT if not burned directly.

The consumption of MSG Chamber door neurons, causing abdominal discomfort, angina and panic attacks in certain patients. MSG can be found in canned foods, sausages, flavored potato chips and processed foods. Natural fruits and planted are sources of fibre, super nutrients and immune system boosters. These foods have marvelous anti-aging properties in addition to the above benefits.

The author declares that reduced salt intake helps control blood pressure. This is true in my own experience. In addition, the reduction of caffeine induces a similar achievement and fosters the gastrointestinal tract. When we get older, grow larger and diverticular pockets more prone to inflammation from foods that coffee, heavy creams and spicy sauces. In short, unhealthful foods = pain.

Book critical of aspartame in sugar-free candy, diet soda and other foodstuffs. I have found that water is the best soft drink consumption, in particular the water with a higher pH level. Consumption of ice can cause damage to be longer than normal.

Organic apple cider has many positive effects. For example, removal of arterial plaque, toxins, body fat accumulation, viruses and bacteria. Organic apple cider can also help to normalize the pH levels in urine and relieve sore throat. I had positive effects of intake of organic apple cider. Part of the book invites the reader to breathe deeply and exercise. United States must reinstate gymnastics in grammar school, high school, college and the workplace.

We need at least eight hours of sleep each night. In addition, can eat apart from 8 pm to be harmful to our digestive systems need to slow down. Night binges disrupt the physical digestive system gets a much needed break from periodic eat during the previous 12 hours or more.

The book has many good references. I would add that these New England Journal of Medicine. In conclusion, the acquisition would be an excellent complement to all the personal library. I manufacturers of sweets, soft drinks and cakes to add less sugar in their products and find any natural or herbal substitutes for white sugar.

Total Massage: step-by-step Massage techniques to relax body and soul by Karen Smith

"Total Massage: step-by-step Massage techniques to relax body and soul" by Karen Smith is a straight forward book circumvent basic massage by photo sequences and explanations of various massage strokes and technologies. Smith, a former professional dancer is a professionally qualified masseur, aromatherapist and reflexologist and running her own Pilates studio in London. In this book made Smith a good job of introducing massage through her writing and the commissioned photography of Antonia Deutsch. I don't know if there is something that really makes this stand from all other massage books over the years, but if you want a basic book about massage, this is a good book for this.

Smith begins the book with an introduction on the importance of touch and what book will cover. Then there are the touch and fragrance a little brief information about essential oils and how to mix them, She also gives her the reasons why you should massage with oils, and then have a good little bit in the process of preparing a massage. With these preparations taken into account, she goes into describing techniques such as effeurage or "to skim." petrissage or "to knead, kneading, stripes;" thumb glides, watch circling; Cupping and hacking, feathering and framing; and knuckling. Each of these descriptions are short and clear and are accompanied by photographs.

In the next section of the book is called a trip around the body and contains descriptions of various parts of the body and explanations of its meaning and its links with other parts of the body, as well as the benefits of massage for each area. These include the back, neck and shoulders, buttocks, back of legs. face, head and scalp, chest, arms proliferation. the hands. the abdomen, the front of the legs. and feet.

The next part, the sensual calendar, focuses on the influence of seasons has on people and types of massage which will support needs during each season. It is a fairly short sections that have a few pages per season. In the next section, pleasure of water, has information on relaxing mind and body, home SpA, water therapy, and treatment and focus tool skin.

The last part of the stress management book coverage through touch and touch and holistic vision. Each of these large sections are color coded by the margins of the book, making it easy to quickly find what you are looking for. If you are looking for a simple guide that shows the basics of massage and its role in a global approach to health and well-being is likely to find this book useful. It is not a text book on massage, which may be about to attend a massage school, but it was not intended to be. The book is intended for readers who want to learn a little more about the massage and health. If that is what you're looking for, check out this book.

Tim Ferriss-the 4-hour body review

Hey guys, as promised I am posting my personal experience of the book.

The first book consists of 571 pages and has 11 chapters. I will discuss them one by one later in this post. Now might think wow that's a lot of pages ... but the truth is that the book is not complicated, it is simple and straight to the point. I have read the book in a little less then a week. Each chapter has a different example, so you will probably experience the relevant measures or situations in your life makes it so powerful.

Now lets see what is in this book, are we?

First, an introduction: Fundamentals-first and foremost which basically explains that things can be achieved successfully without great effort. He is described as having at least effective dose.

The first chapter is about action and preparation: Ground Zero-getting and Swaraj. As he explains here are the different methods to estimate the amount of body fat. These methods are for both men and women, but he discusses each individual separately. He also talk about weight glide pad. This consists of a goal-line that decreases from top to bottom and has two main lines below and above his target line: his minimum weight and maximum permissible mass for each day. The great with this is that you have a bit of spare parts so you can lose weight without stress bo on line goals.

The second is about subtracting the Fat. The chapter is divided into two main parts: basic and advanced. As a starter he compares dietary fats and oils, this should not be skipped because it is material information! Without your fat will stay, so therefore declares on the next page he more effective methods such as air wall squats, presses, etc. He also talks about glucose trend of your body with the use of two different days and the results (of course). Testosterone and Nandrolone hormons is handled at the end of this chapter. It is perhaps a little difficult for some readers but it is explained well.

Add muscle is the thirth chapter in the book. As the title is quite obvious he will discuss gaining weight this by explaining a variety of exercises and, more importantly, why they work. He was also the test sessions calendar to make it easier for you. He also offers strategies for how you will weight quickly with exercises GOMAD and Occam's Protocoli. Some of you will perhaps make an extra to gain weight. Basically, I would say use Pre-and post-conduct supplements, Timothy explains this well.

Improve sex, is one of my favorite chapters in this book the fourth.
15 minutes of female Orgasm is the main issue where he is talking about. I guess, if you are a woman, you know it, no? Now the chapter is not just about women, it is also about the man: triple and double sperm testosterone count is all you need.

After the queue is tired ... so let us sleep, shall we? Refine sleep is the fifth chapter of the book and describes several methods for how to fall asleep quickly some methods that I reveal:
take a cold bath an hour before you go to bed, focus on which you want to sleep and try to sleep in half-military crawl position. Seems simple isn't it? Maybe, but don't worry if you don't find it easy. What differs from this book and many, many other books is that he explains how to do, not what you should, therefore, I managed a few methods I tried before, but never worked. How is to Sleep less and have great another part of this substance. This should be read carefully.

Since we've had already (if not, you should start!) it is possible to get injured. Counteract damage gives an answer on what to do if you got injured. I will not tell you much about this chapter because I was a little unfamiliar with this subject. Although this does not mean you should skip it! It is mainly about Timothy Ferris himself cured their permanent damage by receiving a $ 10000 worth cocktail of products (such as ethical!) and if they are non-expensive stages: mobility, manipulation, medicine and surgery.

I bet the next chapter will be about something you've already done a lot, actually running. In this chapter he explains how to run faster and further. Of course this cannot be done in one week, but you don't have to worry about it, or even to make a system. He has two stages, from 5 K to 50 k in 12 weeks simply by running something different than what you do now.

Chapter eight is about to get stronger. It consists of using timed drills as bench press. An important point which he writes about stretching your limbs. This seems to be a forgotten method even if your strength is increasing dramatically. Chapters are getting smaller, but it contains rich information.

Is the ninth chapter from swimming to swing. He begins by informing you of how he learned to swim effortlessly in 10 days. After their little life experience, he says, go to the various swim and again how to do them for certain styles that you need to exhale, which was described in a sub chapter called how to Hold Your Breath longer than Houdini.

We almost arrived and the last chapter but before we do, he tells you whether the long-term objectives, you should have. To explain further and better life you how to increase your life simply and efficiently.

The last chapter is a general conclusion and final thoughts which he uses the term "The Trojan horse. As he says:

"This book is a Trojan horse full of unexpected transfers.
It is intended to make you a better global human. Also has the intention to make you a role model for those around you. "

The last pages of the book contains extras and bonus material that is really handy!

Okay so I hope you have a basic idea of subjects dealt with in the book. In my opinion one of the better books I have read in a few months, and because it is number one on Amazon, I think others share my view too.

I am Patrick Richardson, 38 years old and happily married to my wife Marian. I am a full-time librarian and as you might think I see enough books in my job that I didn't read a book after my daily work ... The truth is that I usually read a book every evening. Most of the books I read are educational, but I enjoy the Romans.

Journey through the world of technology and devices become smaller

If you remember long ago computer devices that could be purchased by you from store was much larger and more massive in size than the current versions which you can find. The main reason for this is, in fact, that these units lacked chip innovation that we have today that they will be less. Microchip is one of the most important components in an electronic device. They are essentially the brains of the computer and without them it would actually works. Previous microchip technology was limited actual ability to process data and that such larger and more physical microchips needed inside your computer in order to provide the same amount of performance. This applies particularly in terms of medical technology when the chips are actually plays a central role in their computing for health and important character statistics and calculations.

One of the most impressive changes in chip technology that has hit the market pulse function for pulsoximetrar. A function for pulsoximetrar pulse is a real innovation in the medical device technology on it is really a portable wonder. You can measure your pulse rate and oxygen saturation in your blood that you are either hiking in the mountains of Nepal or even hiking through the Sahara in Africa. The device has a ultra-portable but wasn't here before. It used to be that computer size unit that was pretty much only found in hospital and clinical areas and was definitely not something you and I would consider to be portable. Then chip technology advanced and everything changed. The smaller microchips was key in enabling manufacturers to make these products smaller and more portable. This is the trend in the context of medical device technology and will continue to get smaller.

A review of doctor 5 minute health fixes: recipe for a lifetime of great health

Many know Dr. Travis Stork from The Bachelor: Paris, but his regular gig hosting "doctors" television program.

"Doctor" was launched in September 2008, and won an Emmy award in 2010. Daytime show features discussion on comprehensive health topics by four real doctors--Lisa Masterson, Andrew Ordon, Jim Sears and Travis Stork.

"5 Minute health action" was published by Rodale in 2010. Rodale is under, the launch of the book timely based on a report by the Center for disease control and prevention says that nine out of ten adults find it difficult to follow the routine medical advice because they could not understand it.

Premise of the book is that a person's health can be improved considerably by making small Lifestyle changes that takes less than five minutes to do. Many people find the time to be their stumbling block when it comes to their health. The list of things you need to do in terms of diet, exercise, and doctor visits can be overwhelming.

Rather than getting stuck in overwhelm, why does not pick out a few things you can do in 5 minutes actually makes a difference? Start small and work your way towards greater things. Try to change your whole Lifestyle at the same time is a recipe for disaster. Most people are not up for this type of change.

Of course, there are many health books out there, but I this one due to various health issues addressed in the book. It seems to have something for everyone at every stage of life.

Why I liked the 5-minute health corrections

I liked the book for several reasons--

It is first and foremost an index and a table of contents. Yes, this is simple stuff, but it's amazing how many "reference" books do not have them.Advice from experts. All the "doctors" are actually practising MDs. There is little to no pseudoscience. View win not one Emmy for nothing.Bite size bits of information. Who has the time or inclination to wade through reams of content when you have a health problem? Advice that is easy to be implemented quickly. Don't overload here.

You may or may not agree with everything in the book, but we all have our systematic. Bottom line, if you like "The doctor" on TV, you can find their book equally satisfactory. It is definitely worth adding as a resource in the library, personal health.

Rereading "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind"

Every now and then I drag out books to read that have had a positive impact on me. One of these books is "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind." I think the book is truly remarkable and suggests that if you have not read it, get a copy as soon as possible. With the popularity of the book "The Secret" is even more inspiring to read "Subconscious mind" because you get to appreciate the fact that great writing is not always hyped. By that I mean we are blessed to be able to examine the matter today because of the internet and find so much material. And much of it very well. But "Subconscious soul" is very "scientific" answer to "The Secret" that many people dismissed as "hocus-pocus". I highly recommend owning and study both. You will benefit considerably if you are doing.

At the end of the day, my message is this: the mind is the most powerful weapon the people have. All material that helps us to focus it is good. We as a nation have received from our spiritual side. If someone does not bring you facts and figures, or anything you can confirm in a laboratory, dismiss it. Despite overwhelming evidence that the majority of the mind and the issue is a total mystery for us. Understood or not, has the history thoroughly documented the power of the mind and astonishing achievements of inspired individuals. I do not know how important it is to understand how something works, as long as we understand what it can do.

What I like most about "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind" is that the author, Dr. Joseph Murphy, not just enter-that science can derive-what your mind is, however, tells about what it can do. And as everyone knows, we have not yet contacted our borders. Over the years I have used the techniques in the book. I actually owned a copy when I was a teenager. What I have learnt is second nature to me. I remember doing visualization and firming exercises to overcome negative thinking, fear and creative block, among others. And just like all people, I am a work in progress, hence the creativity.

Doctor confidential: the secrets behind the veil by Richard Sheff, MD

A fantastic look behind the scenes of the medical profession

In "Dr. confidential: secrets behind the Veil" Richard Sheff M.D. Chronicles formative experience from his years in medical school and during their stay. The book is the result of a lesson that Dr. Sheff learned early in his education. ".. .in the midst of all medical technology and pressure to overcome so much new clinical information ", it is easy to lose sight of its original intention of the law of treaties" to help others, at some level as an expression of love. " It is his hope that the book will provide deeper insights into the importance of the doctor/patient relationship.

The book is divided into two main parts: part one is about his experiences in Medical School-The University School of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Part two covers his stay programs in family medicine experience at Brown University in Providence, r. I.

An articulate communicator, Richard Sheff captures and holds the reader's attention from his first-class room experience in Gross Anatomy through each rotation of their training as a medical student, including: psychiatry, gynaecology, obstetrics, surgery, internal medicine and Pediatrics, choosing a specialty, elective classes and Sub internship.

Part two contains years of Sheffs residence, his practice, junior and senior resident permits to reside. He information on many of his experiences dealing with patient's covers a wide range of diseases relating to family law.

I could identify with many of the issues that concerned Sheff. At the age of nine I was admitted to a medical education University Hospital for a nervous disorder as a result of complications arising after scarlet fever. For two months, I was the subject of the rounds made by medical students, trainees and staff physician. On one occasion was I to an amphitheatre in which my case was presented to a classroom full of medical students. After presenting my case, I was asked to show my writing skills and my ability to bind my hospital gown. I remember to this day the humiliation of hearing that nine-year-old was the skill level of these two details in case of a six year old. For the next four years I returned to the Pediatric outpatient department for continuing education exposure go through blood tests, medical history and a routine jumping on one foot, sticking out my tongue and prolong my hands to determine how steady I can keep them, I was too young to question the treatment or the cure. I go over to adulthood, married an RN recognised and directed me to the doctor known as patient advocates. As a result of my excellent care and relatively good health keeping today I appreciate Members of the medical profession.

Sheffs writing is engaging, memorable and Frank. He gives a strong signal for all associated with or involved in the field of patient care. Dr. Sheff is sincere in his defence of healing patients and healing healthcare. He calls for love, courage, passion and integrity from hospitals, physicians and related healthcare professionals. "Doctor confidential: secrets behind the Veil" is a topical and important book.

I received a free copy of this book from a representative of the author or Publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. I have opinions are my own. I reveal this according to the Federal Trade Commission guidelines.

Empowered patient by Elizabeth Cohen

"Empowered Patient" by CNN Senior medical correspondent Elizabeth Cohen is a book that will help you in getting superior care for you and your loved ones and saves you money. Cohen shares his own experiences, as well as the others, and provides insights on how to get better care from your doctor, your insurance and the medicines you take. This book can make you a better consumer with respect to your medical care, but I warn you not to become too adversarial. The cover of the book says it focuses on how to get the right diagnosis, buy the cheapest drugs, turn your insurance company and get the best care every time. Who does not want to learn them? Well, this book you on the way to being your own advocate when it comes to health care. It is a good start.

Introduction begins with a personal story from when Cohen was was at the hospital, after the birth of his third child, who was in the NICU. All parents who read this to know for Cohen, and if it does not stir your emotions, you do not have or have had children yet. After this experience, Cohen's goal for writing this book is so you can ensure that a hospital not kill yourself with a medication error or infection, so you can see if a doctor has misdiagnosed your terms, so you can be sure that you have the best doctor, and to make the most of the short time you have with your doctor. She wrote this book so you can be responsible for your own care, informed, bot be your own lawyer, to be an empowered patient. And I think she has done a very good job with it. I am also a strong believer that a person should be active in their own care, and the more you know, the better. Book point is definitely in the right direction.

But having said that, I think parts of the book is more contentious than it should be. As a mediator and negotiation instructor, I like to look toward the target of an outcome, which this would be your best health. I think that developing a relationship with your doctor, not just a commercial transaction as proposed in the chapter on "how to have a little patience" is more positive to its final destination.

Nevertheless, this book contains some valuable information to help people, and reading it will help you to take a more active and responsible role in your healthcare. Chapters include: how to become a "bad Patient". How to find Dr. right (and fire Dr. Wrong); Do not leave a doctor's appointment, saying "huh?"; How to avoid a bad; How to become an Internet MD (medical Detective); You vs the insurance industry, how to get good drug cheap, not for medical marketing; and let a hospital does not kill you.

There are many very good doctors and hospitals in this country and around the world. I have had the good fortune to have had some very good care of me and my family sometimes. However, sometimes mistakes, and sometimes money is an influence in particular matters. It really pay your own solicitor and informed. You can then work better with your doctor and health care providers for the best care available. This book is not the be all and end all of the subject, but it provides the reader with useful information and if it gets people to take a more active role in their health care, it is well worth the price. I recommend to read it, use it, but also work more with healthcare providers for the best possible care.

Love in times of AIDS

Book title: LOVE in times of AIDS
Author: Dr. Mark Hunter: an Assistant Professor of social studies/geography at the University of Toronto.
Publisher: University of KwaZulu-Natal Press
Reviewer: Bhekisisa Stalin Mncube

AIDS transmission: hierarchy of UBUFEBE (multiple SEX partners) in South Africa

LOVE in times of AIDS is a valuable ethnography of Mandeni, an urban near town in the northern part of the province of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. The city symbolizes the destruction of the aftermaths of HIV/AIDS. 2008 HIV/AIDS prevalence figures, 39% of the women tested positive for HIV in KwaZulu-Natal. There is still no noticeable change in the statistics since then.

The book presents arguments on why the AIDS epidemic appeared so rapidly in South Africa. It combines ethnography and history to highlight the deep connections between political economy and intimacy-a broader concept than sex that extends the analysis of fertility, love, marriage, and female pleasure.

The book contains bare destruction of families produced by HIV/AIDS among dissolved communities are driven in part by rising unemployment, poverty and hopelessness. This book is a potent manuscripts that provide a glimpse of the twilight zone between courage and fear, love and death. and hope in the mist of hopelessness. The story is deeply distressing, yet find solace powerful tale, academic analysis and engaging manner, including the author's personal anecdotes of his stay in Mandeni.

Mark Hunter spent five years living and working in an informal settlement in Mandeni. As part of his in-depth study: Hunter conducted interviews, questionnaires, collected love letters, cell phone text messages, oral histories and archival materials. This allowed Hunter to describe the feelings of the infected and affected by the virulent epidemic and everyday life. In the process he learned languages such as IsiZulu, and developed a deep understanding of its shades: therefore he used more than one hundred IsiZulu words to awaken feelings and cultural concept of the words spoken by his subjects in a way that offers them dignity while enriching the experience of the reader.

The book's central argument: AIDS is a social problem that is embedded in uneven development, skewed resource allocation, rapid urbanisation, housing backlogs in new towns, urban apartheid, rising levels of unemployment and poverty. Hunter claims to explain South Africa's rapid increase in HIV prevalence, we must note that intimacy, especially what he calls the materiality of daily sex, has become a vital crossroads between production and social reproduction in the current era of chronic unemployment and capital-led globalisation. As unemployment has thrown a cruel but uneven shading on land, in other words come certain aspects of intimacy to play a central and essential role in the "fleshy, messy and indeterminate stuff of daily life". By Hunter's study of history and his training as a geographer, he can map a link on how the first apartheid and then chronic unemployment have become entangled with the ideas of femininity, masculinity, love and sex that has created an economy of exchange (lethal cocktail) that maintains the transmission of HIV/AIDS.

He says specifically to us that the drivers of the epidemic is deeply rooted in the fault lines in society, and is the fault lines that need to be addressed. AIDS stands, Hunter suggests, as a symptom of all evils rooted in colonialism and apartheid which have not been changed since democracy in 1994. It is an indictment of the new South Africa, 16 years after his birth.

To explain the link between political economy and intimacy-what I call: the hierarchy of ubufebe multiple sex partners-Hunters study shows shocking antics of women and men in Mandeni. He tells about the classification of several lovers-a main boyfriend/girlfriend is known as istraight. Istraight is right, sometimes to the queue (no previous HIV test is required) without a condom and that right extends less with ishende (secret lover) and, or, isidikiselo (secondary lover).

Another fascinating search Hunters field work is a special role for sugar daddies (traditionally men who sleep with younger girls). He describes these girls compared to sugar daddies as more than just ' casual ' or ' secondary ', but support for suppliers of materials. One of the Hunters interviewee explains: when he comes to, he asks me if I am involved. Then I will either tell him that I am single, or that there is no I am involved with and that he will be the second. Then say the third which I am not he is the third, I will say that he is number two. In this hierarchy of ubufebe (refers to sexually Loose woman, or lamanyala for a man Isoka) each man is related to specific costs (e.g., "one each for money, food and rent" or "Ministers of finance, transport and entertainment). On the other hand, some boys get six men for tangible rewards. These suppliers can entirely differ istraight, ishende and isidikiselo. It is this economy of Exchange that enables historical inequality between the sexes, apartheid male oriented economy, rising women urbanisation, chronic housing shortages and unemployment that seamlessly fuel the transmission of AIDS. Unless the book seems to suggest, the South African Government tackles structural economic stagnation, along with its gender blind social services delivery-bypass, be faithful and Condomise maxim (ABC) of AIDS will remain a non-starter.

To this end offers Love in times of AIDS an outlet for expression, contemplation and a deep understanding of fault lines of AIDS transmission. It is also a moving obituary of those who succumbed to the virus, whereas the previous South African President Thabo Mbeki rasterized. This book is a blueprint for the authorities to understand AIDS beyond the biomedical approach: AIDS as a social problem. The book is a must for decision-makers, AIDS activists and all those who care about the future of our country.

Water contamination-2010 summary

With water contamination reports that have come out of the news media in the past year, we noticed that this is a problem that is seemingly growing more so in 2010 than were reported in 2009. These reports resulted from a number of news media sources, as well as independent studies from around the country, all of which cannot be denied. Consequently, we felt it is necessary to subscribe to them in this article as a condition of our very precious water supplies are threatened from coast to coast.  The biggest problem with these numerous reports is that with so many water resources are under the influence of these undesirable substances, we must seriously question just how much the safe water remain. Unfortunately, there are quite a large disconnect between what is considered safe by our Federal Government and what your doctor would tell you were safe.

February 2010-report of the environmental integrity and Earthjustice as documented water pollution from 31 coal-ash dump sites in 14 States.

February 2010-AP News report, WILMINGTON, N.C.-an environmental contractor dramatically underreported level of cancer-causing chemicals found in tap water at Camp Lejeune, then omitted it entirely as marine base prepared for a federal health overhaul, has an Associated Press review found.

May 2010-The CDC reported that more than 2 million kalifornierna exposed to dangerously high levels of nitrates from the water sources throughout the State.

March 2009 to date-reported fish caught near treatment plants serving the five major cities in the United States had residues of medicinal products in them, including medicines used to treat high cholesterol, allergies, high blood pressure, bipolar disorder and depression, researchers Wednesday. The results of this first nationwide study of human drug in fish tissue has led the environmental protection agency to significantly extend similar ongoing research to more than 150 different sites.

On 26 December 2010 reported environment working group (EWG) at the latest to tap water in 31 of 35 u.s. cities have higher priority than normal concentrates of hexavalent chromium (chromium-6). What is that you can say ... Chromium 6 is a compound that regulate glucose metabolism and when they are inhaled or ingested over long time periods, increases the risk of cancer of the lungs, kidneys and intestines.

If this sounds familiar to you then you might recall the true story that was depicted in the film, "Erin Brochovich" in which she fought their own long and hard on her personal risk to bring polluters of this extremely dangerous chemicals to trial which literally destroyed lives and an entire town.

Sadly, the list of reports that these never quits and spans nearly all cities in each State in our whole country. They also have a large number of common threads regardless of location or contaminants that are aimed at them as they all come from an industrial or other contaminating our groundwater. What is the solution? Is the single largest source of clean water on our planet is not on our planet, but rather in front of it in our own troposphere. Atmospheric water generators is the newest technology that allows us to extract this water vapor and by a 12 layer filtration system emits 99,99% pure, safe and clean drinking water.

4-hour body review: 2.5% that really counts

Tim Ferris in his new book, the 4-hour body, claiming that you can understand the 95% of Spanish conversations if you know only 2,500 HF-words. It works to around 2,5% of the estimated 100,000 words in Spanish. He pointed out this to explain that he is attempting to deliver of 2.5% that delivers 95% of the results in the rapid body design.

In the spirit of Tims, I thought it would be useful to summarize what he says in the book in much less than 2.5%. If I tried to follow the rule entirely, I would have to write a 13 page essay just to summarize his 560 plus pages. I won't make you wade through 13 pages, I get only the top 10 points that I remember from my quick reading.

1) When is a calorie, not a calorie. I had always heard axiom that if you burn more calories than you consume, you lose weight. Makes a feeling that that is based on fundamental physics and thermodynamics law. But Tim, makes a good point when he says a calorie isn't always a calorie. He says that is not what you put in your mouth, that is what makes your blood stream that counts. Yes, he's right about this. If it does not get absorbed by the body, it just passes, such as when you take too many vitamins and your body just moved right through without absorbing them.

He also points out that various sources of calories trigger different hormonal response. He points to studies that show extreme Diets of fat or protein leads to weight loss and extreme Diets based on carbohydrates leads to weight gain. I suppose we do a better job dust absorbing calories in carbohydrates, turning them into fat.

2) Body weight is not as important, body fat is. Is it right, too. We can be thinner and heavier at the same time, if we lower our body fat and increase lean muscle mass. Instead of weight, focus on the measurement of body fat and measure important body dimensions-waist, hips, thighs, etc.

3) don't eat white carbohydrates 6 days a week. White foods and foods that used to be white is fast resolution and absorbed in the body. By eating slow carbs, you lose weight.

4) Eat the same few meals over and over again. The point is to make it simple and easy to follow. By being repetitive, you can make it easy and feasible.

5) don't drink your calories -fruit juice, sodas and alcohol makes you fat.

6) not eat fruit -high calorie drinks fruit are converted by our bodies as really fast, which means high absorption of calories.

7) take a day off and ignore all rules -we all need a break and by taking a day off to do the other 6 bearable and feasible. Binging on the seventh day thwart not you.

8) Embrace the cold -warming up the body burns very calories. If your body thinks it is cool inside oven fires up and begins to burn calories. Tim proposes cold showers or ice bath. Sounds very painful, but if you really want to burn calories as it may be worth.

9) Do the minimum amount of exercise -H shows that a small amount of exercise can provide enormous benefits, but that the exercise may not really help you achieve your goals

10) there's a lot more in the book -while this article covers the concepts used to lose body fat, this book shows you how to gain muscle if that is what you want, tips for six pack abs, how to improve your sex life and sleep and all kinds of other interesting bits of wisdom.

Overall, I got the book, but not as much as his last book the 4-hour work week. His previous book was pretty focused, whereas this seems more like a collection of ideas focused on different topics, but if you are interested in one of the subjects Tim has some very interesting insights. There are also and audiobook online where you can listen to an example.

Take control of Stress

To successfully manage stress, you only have to learn to take control of the situation. It is the real purpose of stress management, anyway. Stress is always in our lives, the question is how we react to stress or why we allow stress to flood our lives.

For example, when you find that something or someone makes you ANGRY, remember than nothing has power in nature. You must give them permission to stress you.

If you let this happen, you are permitting others to control your emotions and your mental health. Isn't it time to take control of them back?

What happens to you should not have anger as a natural consequence. If you're feeling ANGRY is because you have allowed it, but the situation is never the cause of your anger.

Notice how some events may make you angry or stressed very easily under certain circumstances, but how can they be truly irrelevant, some other times.

There are other days when you're feeling happy, and you say that nothing can make you feel bad, that nothing can ruin your day. And nothing can! You have control over your life.

The fact is that you can't influence to change what they say or do to you, but surely, you can change the way you look at it. It is your decision.

That is why it is very important for you not to let people to influence your feelings or behaviour. You can practise relaxation techniques for these situations. If you do, shows you that you take control of your life. The day will come when you do not need even to practice these methods to get relaxed.

There are some times when the stress techniques don't work. If you try very hard to get rid of your stress you can actually get more stressed. It's like when you are forced to do something in a moment that you are not so willing to do it, Take a breath and clear up a bit, so does stress management expert

You need to make a commitment

Rush not into stress techniques, but you should begin to take control of the situation immediately. The first step is the most important of all since it allows the next step and be natural.

It has been shown that the longer you're stressed the worst your health may. So do your best to maintain your health, if you are healthy or do anything to get it better, where it already has been damaged. Stress can cause an illness become worse, so start by not stress if you ant to get better.

I advice you to make a contract with yourself. Make a very realistic agreement where you decide to no longer underlined by silly things. Set rewards for every time you can take control of stressful situations. Specify the penalties for each time you fail to check yourself.

This is a very simple approach to stress management. I am sure it will be helpful for you. It will set the path so that you can begin to take control of stress and anxiety.

Eight proven ways to succeed with your new year resolutions

It is hard to believe that one year is almost over ... but the good news is that a completely new is about to begin. We all look forward to new beginnings, a chance to right wrongs and perhaps take a second stab at things that do not exactly go our way. Perhaps its time to forgive and also try to forget some of the hard times we have experienced in 2010. But its also an opportunity to be grateful for all the many gifts we have received throughout the year. It can be an opportunity to try and let go to find ways to be more loving, or to amend a part of ourselves that we think will make for a happier and more fulfilled lives.

Inevitably, this time of year that we tend to be passive that we think about the coming year and the life we want for ourselves and, perhaps, for our families. Although every day and even every moment is an opportunity for a new beginning, we often wait until the new year to make these changes that we think will make us truly happy. The unfortunate aspect is that the pressure to succeed with resolutions for the new year has the undesirable effect of actually reduces our ability to succeed. It is increasingly difficult to make commitments that will last, especially when these same commitments have been withheld from us over many months and perhaps years or even decades.

We have a great opportunity to make changes in our lives, let go of old vices and make positive changes that will make it possible for us to be happy and fulfilled. In the light of the opportunity before us to make powerful and supportive resolutions, I offer you some simple recommendations that can give you the best chance of success in 2011.
Eight Tips for successful new years resolutions

Do It For You -you want to lose weight? Fantastic! Do you want to quit smoking? Fantastic! Do not do it for someone else ... do it for YOU. You are worth it and you deserve it.

Be realistic -don't expect to fix all your problems overnight. Be reasonable in what you can achieve. Remember that there is a reason that these resolutions have escaped you-choose what you know you can manage and work towards your dreams. Rome was not built in a day, so be patient with yourself. If you reach your goal, you can always make another resolution, anytime you want.

Be grateful -always start from a place of gratitude for what you have. Whatever challenges we face, we all have so much to be thankful for. Sharing gratitude puts you in your heart, where you have the strength to fulfill your every need.

Be in The moment -don't expect to succeed only so that you actually made a resolution, and even wrote it down. It takes a few moments at a time-one day at a time and you will eventually achieve what previously seemed insurmountable. Pace yourself, but work from now on because it is the only one who is ever going to exist.

Be Strong -someone may try to rationalise before, but it takes real strength and courage to believe in the future. Don't give up-you can achieve anything your heart desires if you stick to it.

Have faith -Yes, you need to believe-but regardless of your specific religion, have faith that you can achieve your wishes and overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of your greatness. If you need assistance, ask for it, if you need help, find it. Set yourself up to succeed and don't stop believing (or perhaps Believin '-thanks trip)

Start again -if you don't, try again, and if necessary, again and again and again. If you fail or get off course, be kind to yourself and forgive yourself simply start from scratch. Do not wait until next year because now is the time for change. Take a few moments at a time, one day at a time, until your resolution will your new programming and you live the life you consciously choose.

Be of service -if all else fails, be of service. When you do not know what to do next, be of service. When you are lost, be of service. Regardless of what happens on the resolution road, is the service response to finding your own greatness and staying on the path to true happiness and fulfillment.

Review-my stroke of insight: a brain scientist's personal journey

My stroke of insight: a brain scientist's personal journey, Jill Bolte Taylor, 2009, ISBN 9780452295544

With a line must be difficult for anyone. It must be that much harder to be a Harvard-trained brain scientist with a stroke, to know what happens to your brain, incidentally.

In December 1996 the author woke up one morning to know that something was very wrong with her. Within four hours had the left hemisphere of her brain had deteriorated to the point where she could no longer read, write, speak and understand what these squiggles was on her phone keypad. While her logical left brain shut down (she was able to get help in time), her intuitive right brain gave her a feeling of total peace and with the universe (not necessarily bad). Taylor is able to provide a nearly blow-by blow description of her brain is shut down. When she loses the ability to speak, which means that is affected, for example, a location known as Broca's area.

Taylor's type of stroke, called an arteriovenous malformation, abnormal arterial configuration. Although it is a rare type of stroke, it is the most common type of stroke in younger patients (Taylor was 37 years old when she suffered his stroke). After several days in the hospital sent her home with her mother, who had come to help nurse her back to health. The plan was to get her, and so strong, as possible, since the measure to determine her arterial malformation, a Stereotactic craniotomy, were on their way. She survived, and over the next few years was able to compile his brain back, leaving out the unpleasant and negative parts.

During her recovery, Taylor learned the things caregivers should and should not, do to help stroke patients. Make eye contact with me. Honoring the healing power of sleep. Speak slowly and speak clearly. Please do not raise your voice. Keep visiting card. Ask me a multiple-choice questions, not yes/no questions. Demolish all actions in smaller increments. Did not finish my sentences or fill in words I can not find.

This is a really interesting book. On one level, it looks inside the brain to show just what happens during a stroke, good for stroke victims or caregivers. On another level, it indicates that the two lobes of the brain have very different personalities. It is very readable.

How to Tinnitus

Tinnitus is very different for each person and because it is so different, it may be more or less severe depending on the person's body and how it handles the condition. Doctors have searched for a cure to prevent or cure the condition permanently. Although doctors have not come with a specific remedy that works for everyone. It is, however, lots of different treatments available for people to try and find out what works best for their particular circumstance.

There are some Lifestyle changes that can be implemented that can help to get rid of tinnitus. For the most part, those who experience only mild to moderate symptoms, make some changes to get some relief. The two solutions that have been shown to give some relief is to wear hearing aids, or use a tinnitus Masker. Hearing aids can be a simple solution that makes other audio louder and helps the caller is not appreciable. For those who suffer from mild tinnitus a radio, fan, or ambient music remain on so that it helps to mask the ringing in the ears.

There are some natural remedies that can help treat tinnitus also. There are certain vitamins and herbs that are known to improve the condition. Ginkgo biloba is currently the only herb that is known to help with the condition. Vitamins that are considered to be beneficial for the treatment of tinnitus is magnesium, zinc and niacin.

After you have tried Lifestyle modification (hearing aid or masking tinnitus with other sounds) and vitamins if there is no improvement, there are some medicines that can offer some form of assistance. With the help of medication should be a last resort, because many medications used to treat tinnitus also have some negative effects. Several scripts and strategies in Hypnotherapy

Book by Lynda Hudson, Crown House Publishing

Wow. What a rich compilation of scripts for both beginners and more experienced professional.

Lynda Hudson provides a valuable resource that it deserves to be the classic guide for hypnotherapist who wonder what to say to help a client challenged with e.g. tics, illness, maternity, unwanted habits, business concerns, social unrest, Sport performance and/or travel toilet phobia, those are just some of the topics that the author treats so adroitly.

Unlike the previous script books by Roger Allen contains this text comments by the author on the right side of the script pages. [Added so much better than a similar effort by me many years ago in my community organization action guide for McGill University].

Hudsons breadth of knowledge of so many issues facing clients seeking hypnotherapy is nothing short of astounding. Regardless of the subject, she gives clear and compassionate formulation that can be adapted to specific persons and their conditions.

Thus manage script for a client who wishes to change the way he or she behaves in a business setting, delegate, public speaking, self-confidence and procrastination.

Hypnotherapists need to ad lib. We need colloquially known as "the gift of gab." And these scripts questions, ideas and tips to inform such eloquence. The author also includes breathing techniques, inductions and "conversion" procedures.

The focus is always on the client and his or her inner strength. This beautiful features of Hudson is somewhat diluted by her large reliance on embedded commands. This, like much else in the book, I believe, an NLP techniques and I wonder if its effectiveness.

To emphasize certain words or phrases really have such a positive impact on a client? After all, admitted himself that "good Hudson will listen and report is crucial. So is, of course, trust and respect and wholehearted, mutual belief in the method, along with skill and compassion for therapist. "

This suggests that as a hypnotherapist is and how she conducts herself is more influential than which particular words that she uses. Hudson, however, the book five pages with "Hypnotic language". It seems to be what we have come to be regarded as Ericksonian patter. Again, it seems to me that the therapist intent and real concerns count for much more than certain words and phrases. Coming from the mouth of an apathetic, indifferent or dishonest therapist surely such "hypnotic" words would repeat hollowly to client? (Much like NLP manipulative technique to "reflect" the client's posture and movements).

Hudson contains information about NLP "rewind" technology (show an activity as if it were a film running back.) I can only assume that the author often has used this procedure. Because there is no way I can imagine a reverse movie in my head.

But there is no questioning of Lynda Hudson sincerity. We can learn so much from her book: not only tips and even whole texts that help clients but how to imitate her modesty, we are constantly striving mastering her obvious skills.

Oddly, this book lacks an index. If you would like to find a script for agoraphobia, for example, you have to wade through all the phobia pages. In the same way with the otherwise excellent scripts for sexual dysfunction if you are interested in to help a woman seeking to overcome her inhibitions about climaxing.

I am sure Hudson is very aware of cultural differences and the need to adapt his scripts depending on geographical background and upbringing of the client, but without an index I couldn't easily find the tutorial.

Hmm. Perhaps is the lack of an index, not that bad because for search on a particular topic, the reader learns enormously along the way.

An excellent section on how to sleep well is especially relevant, given the comprehensive fatigue of stressed-out, sleep-deprived commuters in North America and United Kingdom

The British, however, seems to us with another important effective use of hypnosis because, writes Hudson, "in some [U.K.] Hospital hypnotherapy has become the treatment of choice for IBS. "
